The guitar

We brought home my grandmother's old guitar in hopes that it could be re-strung and brought back to life. It couldn't. Sitting in a case for too many years had bent the neck and it was beyond repair. So, he got a new one for his birthday.

Once a week he has attends a guitar class and every night you can hear him practicing in his room. He meets up with a couple of friends every Wednesday before youth group at church to practice. They will eventually get up their nerve to play for the entire group. However, for right now, they are content to play together in private.

His confidence is slowly building and he is really developing a talent. He seems to have fallen in love with the guitar.

A Frivolous Project

Bob is building a walkway to the chicken coop. He described it as a frivolous project....basically a reason to get outside and DO something. We could live without the walkway but why not? Landscaping timbers were on sale and we need an area to move all the daylilies and irises that will be divided this spring.

He does good work.

Update on my mom

My mom found out Monday that the mass on her thyroid contained cancer cells . She went back into surgery this morning to take out the remaining thyroid and some lymph nodes. She was in a lot more pain this time and I suspect she will have a longer recovery. It will take a couple of weeks for the pathology report to be completed. We're praying that she will get an "all-clear" report.

Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Skills USA

Clay competed in the state Skills USA competition this week. The competition was an all day event. He, along with two other team members, started welding at 8 AM and finished around 4 PM. They had to fabricate a metal table. His team was the only team to finish the project.

They placed 2nd in the state. Not bad for their first Skills competition! The 1st place team did not attend a required meeting and there is a chance his team may go to the National competition in June. We'll find out in a couple of days if they get to go.
